Spanning 2250-acres of lowland broadleaf rainforest in Central Belize, Monkey Bay National Park boasts pristine riparian habitat, stunning karst topography, and evidence of ancient Maya settlements. The park is home to some of Belize’s iconic wildlife species including Baird’s Tapir and the elusive Jaguar. Since it’s establishment in the early1990’s until 2022, the park has not had any active management presence. As a result, its resources have unfortunately been unlawfully utilized and much of the historic knowledge and documentation has been lost to history.
